SIDEBAR: First of all, we are so blessed. We work, live, play in what is (in our humble opinion) the most beautiful place in the world. It's not just the weather (perfect), the preserved coastline and sandy beaches, the fact that there are no bugs, the zero humidity, or the 360 days of sunshine a year. These are merely the canvas to what is an active, healthy, and easy (think of never shoveling snow off your car again) lifestyle.
We just want to share this because every day, and especially on days when we get to work with the sun reflecting off the ocean, we are GRATEFUL! We are lucky (so lucky!) and we know it!
After finishing The Perfect Little Patio we received a call from our client's parents asking if we might be able to help refresh their tired patio furniture. The furniture was over 20 years old! Always up for a challenge, we made the treck to Monarch Bay and we are so glad we did.
The goal of this project was to utilize the existing hardscape and source new patio furnishings. Comfort, function, and durability were important. We also didn't want to detract from the gorgeous ocean view.
Before we get into the nitty gritty - here is a sneak peak of some before and after fun!
After meeting with our clients, we got to work. Off to the design center where we found the perfect Rattan look.
When working on patios, we always start with thinking about how the space will function best. (Duh! No really though, this is harder than it sounds) Though the current furniture was dated, it gave us a good base for how we would arrange the new furniture. We opted for a long farmhouse table in place of the small round table that would serve as the outside dining area. It was important that the furniture not block the view from inside of the house, so we opted for a bench and put the taller chairs to the side.
Next up, the pool area. The old chaise lounge chairs had the right idea, but left something to be desired. We opted to carry the same dark wicker look throughout all of the furniture to give a unified feel to the outside space. Don't forget accessories to make your spaces inviting!
And just so there isn't any confusion, accessories aren't always easy. This was a photo we snapped while trying to pick pillows for the space. Talk about overwhelming!
On to the lunch nook off the kitchen. As always, we chose practical and neutral bases that can easily be changed with an inexpensive accent. Look how different the same table looks by just changing four pillows. Which do you prefer?
Finally we cut the tags off the accessories and RELAXED!
